The Patriot Punk Christmas Interview

I had a blast last week recording a podcast interview with Chase and Daniel of the Patriot Punk Network. What did we discuss? AI Implementation for close to 45 minutes. When these great folks interviewed me, the idea was on implementation, not as a buzzword, but as an operational capability that PEOPLE must learn to implement responsibly and effectively.

1. AI as an Augmentation Tool, Not a Replacement Strategy
We discussed the importance of positioning AI as a force multiplier rather than a PEOPLE substitute, given its power. When implemented correctly, AI enhances decision-making, improves efficiency, and reduces cognitive overload, freeing people to focus on judgment, creativity, and leadership. When implemented poorly, it becomes expensive shelfware or, worse, a risk vector. (I didn’t want to scare PEOPLE on Christmas)

2. The Gap Between AI Access (Not using it) and AI Literacy (How to use it)
One of the central themes is the widening gap between access to AI tools and practical use. (PEOPLE have to be taught) Simply deploying AI does not constitute transformation, despite creating opportunities to fill gaps. Without foundational AI literacy, PEOPLE expose themselves to operational, ethical, and reputational risks related to limitations, bias, data quality, and oversight.

3. Governance Before Acceleration (President Trump is moving this needle)
We emphasized that successful AI implementation starts with governance, not speed. Policies, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop processes must precede scale. This includes clarity on data use, accountability, and decision-making authority, especially in public institutions, education, and community-facing organizations.

4. Practical Use Cases Over Machine Learning Science
Rather than talking in abstractions, we focused on real-world applications: a real-life situation where AI prevented a brawl between my spouse and the food, meal prep for the week, AI supporting learning, and political campaigning.

The takeaway was clear, and ole Doc Meador says this,

“AI delivers value when tied directly to defined problems, not when adopted simply to ‘keep up.”

5. Community-Level Impact of AI Decisions (Next 50 years)
Finally, we discussed how AI implementation choices made today, particularly at the local and institutional level, will lead to full implementation in the coming years. Flight and travel may be among the last areas affected by safety, but AI is already present in our cities and communities. Will robots become the face of AI? This has been around for a while in the Machine Learning world, but in the next ten years, it will definitely be an inflection point! Put it this way: communities that approach AI thoughtfully, transparently, and inclusively will outperform those that treat it as a shortcut or a black box.

I highly recommend listening and following Chase and Daniel at the Patriot Punk Network. These great folks don’t realize the friend that they’ve made, and YOU need to be their friend too. Back to my Blink 182 playlist…
